Sunny Autumn Days

The last couple of days have been so sunny here after about two weeks of constant rain, and with the lovely autumn colours and fallen leaves at the moment, I just had to get outside and make the most of the sunshine. Taking photos of Sylvanians in nature is one of my favourite things, so it was also a great way to help rekindle my inspirations and imagination.
(I know this isn't like a proper story, but I wanted to share anyway.)

Here's a few of my villagers playing in the leaves in my garden:

Tiffany Golightly and her little sister had a nice stroll.

Here's Yardley and Alfie Walnut. Alfie and this little car came with the Babies Ride and Play set, which has always been a favourite of mine. That little car is just too cute! And of course Alfie in his bright green dungarees!

Flopsy and Cottontail Buttermilk also came with that set.

And there's another Alfie too, little Alfie Maple! (why is the name Alfie so cute?)
I'm still in two minds about getting him a family. It's tempting...but then I already have so many families that have no houses and get lost in the masses. I'd really like to develop my current characters and village more and I guess adding to what I already have won't help that.

"The leaves are the same colour as me!"

And Alfie discovering what a chicken is, with my photobombing pets. (He noted that the chicken is also the same colour as himself)

And now we come to a shyer and lesser seen resident, the elusive Briar Wildwood.

On sunny days she sets up her easel in the woods and paints for hours on end, only stopping to evaluate her picture or nibble the lunch she has brought along.

Inspiration is all around her with the beauty of nature, and it isn't hard to get creative. Her creativity has always run riot, anyway.

She takes frequent walks through the woodland, whenever time allows. Living in the woods, she knows all the plants, trees and mosses like friends and has learned to recognise them.

While it is true that she has little in the way of critter companions, she is never lonely. And as another famous painter once said, 'There's nothing wrong with having a tree as a friend.'

On sunny evenings, she walks up the hill to grassy clearings to watch the sun getting low, before it's time to hurry back to the caravan and the warmth of home as night's chills spread of the forest.

It's a lovely life spent in the company of nature.

Anyway, that's all I got before I got cold myself and had to come back inside! Thanks for reading, and I hope you enjoyed this little post! Have a lovely week!

  1. Hi Kelsie!

There's something special about natural light, isn't there? Your last picture demonstrates that perfectly, the warm sun gently morphing to shadow. It's wonderful seeing Sylvanians in nature, and autumn adds rich colours to boost the effect.

The Baby Ride & Play set is the first Sylvanian item I bought - purely out of curiosity. I didn't know anything about the brand until I discovered them by chance with the ForestFr1ends risqué posts on Facebook. I was intrigued how such seemingly static models could be so cute and convey so much. A few months after this Amazon purchase I created an eBay account to buy some Seabreeze rabbits and... well I'm still buying!

It's lovely to see Briar Wildwood again, happy in her solitude, enjoying nature and treating us to her painting.

As your weather is moving to the colder months, spring has sprung here and I'm starting to do a little work in the garden as we are getting some reasonable weather at last!

Thank you for this happy post and gorgeous photos!
    Take care!

    1. Hi Jackson! Thank you so much for your lovely comment! I'm pleased you enjoyed seeing my Sylvanians in natural settings. I'm never sure if maybe I overdo it by doing too many outdoor pictures instead of focusing on actual props and sets, but I've really loved outdoor Sylvanian photography ever since I was little and got a camera.

Ah, that is so lovely to hear that the Babies Ride & Play was your first set! How opportune that you happened to chance onto Sylvanians! You fell into the bottomless pit, haha, like us all! They are addictive, but they are a good addiction. And you're right; they are very expressive, and it's very cool to think of all the people that enjoy, collect, and do amazing, creative things with them.

I have a real soft spot for Briar, and I realise it's probably because I relate alot to her character! I'm always keen to include her in posts and stories.

Spring gardening sounds lovely! It's so wonderful to get out in the fresh air and tend to plants. I'm actually reading The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett at the moment and it's piquing my gardening interests, even though everything is slowing down here for winter, of course. I hope you continue to have a lovely spring and good weather. Enjoy the sunshine!

Thanks again! Have a great day! :)

  2. Hi Kelsie!
It´s always a pleasure to find a new post in your blog.

I love your stories and decorated houses but your posts about Sylvanians in real nature have something special. There´s something magical about them!
This time, the autumn colours combined with sunshine made your pictures look amazing!

I found the pictures of little Alfie truly adorable. The colour of the leaves really match the colour of his head. It was funny to see a real chicken!
It would be nice if you could give him a family but I understand you. I tend to keep adding new families and sets to my collection instead of making the most of the stuff I already have.

It was lovely to see Briar Wildwood again. Reading about her makes me feel a sense of peace and calm. Actually, a visit to your blog always has this effect on me.

Did you finish renovating the cottage for your Appleblossom family? I´d love to see it.
Hope to read a new post on blog soon!
    Hugs!

    1. Hi Cutata! I'm sorry it's taken me so long to respond to your sweet comment. I'm afraid I haven't been very active online lately.

It makes me so happy to hear that you particularly love my posts with Sylvanians in nature. I often feel I should be doing more stories set in an actual village location with props etc, like a real little Sylvanian world (which you do magnificently) but to be honest I find this quite a struggle myself and I enjoy it more when I'm just photographing them in nature. So I'm so pleased you like it!

I had to bring little Alfie because I knew he would look so good with the leaves! Yes that's so true, about making the most of what you already have. I'm a bit guilty of just wanting more and more but I need to develop the characters I have.

Aww I'm so glad you feel that way. What a lovely compliment. Thank you! I feel the same about your blog, it's like a beautiful escape.

I have finished the cottage! It was about time I did, haha. I have even photographed everything for the post, I just need to finish writing it. Actually, thank you for reminding me! I'm excited to share it with you!
      Have great day! Hugs!

  3. Hi Kelsie!

Pictures in natural light always come out beautiful, and Sylvanians really are in their element in nature! Loved seeing your villagers out and about. The babies were all adorable (little Alfie!) as was your chicken. :D

Loved seeing Briar Wildwood again! She's such a great artist and such a contemplative Sylvanian. I feel like her inner world must be so rich!

Thank you for sharing these pictures! Take care. :)

    1. Thank you Ayrell!

Outdoor Sylvanian photography is definitely my favourite. It's nice to take my figures out too, as I'm afraid they get rather dusty sitting on my shelves!

It's probably no secret that I have a soft spot for Briar Wildwood! You're right - she is quite different on the inside to the unassuming rabbit others see. I think real life creatives were/are often like that. Many of the great artists throughout history were deeply interesting people - though those around them at the time didn't know it or appreciate it.

Anyway, thank you again for your lovely comment! Hope you are having a beautiful February!
